Saying NO to Processed Food

Have you ever wondered why you can’t eat just one chip, one cookie or one piece of candy? I ask myself this question all the time. Itell myself, “oh you can have one small serving of pie or one small bag of chips or just a few peanut butter cups”, yeah, NO!


Whatever the companies put in these products makes us addicted to them. It makes us crave them to the point where we oever indulge. I don’t know about you, but this is my dwnfall.


It’s truly sad that these companies are allowed to get away with putting chemicals in these processed foods. All the artificial sweeteners they put in these products make us want even more. They leave us unsatisfied so we eat more and more.

Summer tips to keep you healthy and on track

I hope everyone is enjoying their long summer days playing with the kids and making great memories that will last a lifetime. Get out and breath in the aroma of fresh cut grass and flowers! Summer seems to be passing by every quickly this year. I find myself beginning to think about my fall/winter garden adn what I will be planting.   Our family is staying active during the summer by doing lots of swimming! I am also enjoying a hybrid of the 21 Day Fix combined with running. I found this to be a great combination because the 21 Day Fix helps me with my posture and form while running. I especially enjoy the Pilates Fix days where it involves lots of strengthing and stretching. This gets my body ready for a tough run.   Anyway, I thought I would give you a few tips on staying healthy while on vacation. Really, it’s tips for anyone trying to stay healthy during the summer months.


Summer Tips

Stay hydrated.  I think in the summertime, we tend to not drink enough water. Mostly because we do so much swimming, that we tend to forget about drinking as well! If you are going on a day trip or even going to be away from your home for a few hours, pack frozen bottles of water with you so that it is always accessible to you and the family.   Stay Active.  The kids are home and ready to go go go! Whether you have planned a vacation or a staycation, get active! Go for walks at the beach, ride bikes with the kids or your spouse, go hiking, kayacking or canoeing. The more active you are, the more active your children will be.   Pack Snacks. The more healthy snacks you pack, the better off yu are! Not just health wise, but budget wise as well. Of course it’s okay to sp.   I sincerelylurge for that yummy ice cream cone you are craving during these super steamy days of summer, but make that special. Make it a one time thing, in moderation. Stick with fruits, veggies, granola, almonds and string cheese.   Enjoy your summer.  Relax and enjoy this time with your family. This is quality time that should be fun and memorable. You have earned the opportunity to have a little fun, so do it! Get down in the sand and build that sandcastle with your kids   I sincerely hope that each one of you are taking the time to enjoy your summer. Make sure to  stay on track with your health and fitness too.
